What I Learned

I learned that rhythm is important when trying to convey movement between elements. Learning the difference between the type of movements has helped me understand the different effects of the different types of rhythm. I also learned that the background or negative plays a role in the effectiveness of the rhythm being used. The alternating rhythm is the one I liked best because it is easy to understand the difference between patterns visually.

Working with Rhythm in Design

Rhythm exercise one was the difficulty between the exercises because Of the concepts that I needed to create to convey a message. I also didn’t want the focus point to “out-shine” the rhythm that is being used so I went with darker tones to create contrast between the pattern and focus point. The easiest way was exercise two because Mostly all I need to do was gradually move and increase the size of the object in each position.

Communicating with Rhythm

The message I was trying to convey in exercise one is to shoot for the stars. There is no limit to how far you can go which is why I used the rocket ship as the focus point. In exercise two I was trying to evoke a calm, chill, laidback emotion. I didn’t want the colors to pop on the screen. I wanted the dark background and the rhythm to create that feeling.
