ARTC 1359
What I learned
I learned the importance of paying attention to all the space that made up the artwork. The first exercise taught me to look past what’s catching my eye and look at the area that is not being focused. The second exercise taught me the importance of placement and how it can create a 3-D effect that catches the eye of the viewer. In the third exercise, I learned that the order of objects correlates to how dark and light objects should be depending on where they are. Doing these exercises help get familiar with positive and negative spaces and made me appreciate all the objects in the artwork/
What I enjoyed
One thing that I enjoyed from the exercise is using the photoshop tools to put my ideas to life. I like figuring out where to place my objects to make my overall work appear 3-D. Something that worked well for me during the exercise was planning where I will place my objects before putting them on the page. The planning is what made using photoshop easier. Another thing that I also enjoyed where created the panels for each exercise. Comparing and contrasting different artworks and watching the progression between the panels was exciting for me. Another thing that I enjoyed doing is discovering and using different tools to assist in creating my pages. One of my favorite tools to use is the magnetic lasso tool. That tool made it so much easier to extract the eagle from the photo and put it on the other page. Overall I had a fun time trying and testing various tools to help me with my work.
My Favorite
My favorite exercise was the second because it allowed me to think a little more about where I want my objects to be. Using photoshop was new to me because I haven’t used the software in a long time so enjoyed learning the software while creating art. I had a fun time using the marquee tool and the more I got to use the tool, the more it became one of my favorite tools to use in photoshop. Another thing that was my favorite is taking one piece of artwork and creating something new to give a different look to the art. I like adding different objects together to create a whole new piece.
