ARTC 1359
What I learned
Things that I learned while doing the line exercise is that is important to view artwork in its entirety because lines can be found in multiple ways. There can be lines in the background, the focus piece, or throughout the artwork without it being visible. In exercise one, I learned that it is possible to create detailed artwork with just lines. Adding and putting lines together showed me that I can create artwork by drawing one line at a time. In the second exercise, I learned that lines can be used to create art within shapes to make it a whole different piece. Adding it all together makes the artwork pop because the different colors, shapes, and lines will immediately grab your attention. The third exercise taught me to be creative and think about where lines would go if I was drawing the image. It was fun adding lines to the graphic and incorporating more lines.
Successful/Hardest Exercise
The exercise that I had the most success in was the first one. I found it easy to trace the graphic especially when I zoomed in while doing it. Learning how to change the opacity made it easier for me because it gave me a better visual of what object is there that I can create lines from. The hardest exercise was the second one. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to add lines to the shape and change the color of the backgrounds. I had to keep starting over because I would accidentally delete something and it would change my shapes and lines. Another thing that was hard was figuring out how to add color to my shapes. I didn’t like using just black and white for the color, I wanted to make the artwork pop.
What makes a good image?
The three concepts related to a good image are high-quality, authentic, and uncommon or non-generic. I agree with the video because images are what attract the viewers the most. Blurry or pixelated images only make it harder for the viewer to connect with the image. High-quality images capture the eye because of clean it looks visually. I was able t find good images by using the website pixbabay which is found in the word press resources. I like using their website because most of their graphics are high-quality and it helps me when I have to do these exercises.
