What I learned

The things that I learned through the exercise is that shapes are important to artwork and should value for what they can represent in the artwork. Using different ideas can expand the use of shapes and adding more art on top of the shapes give them a whole new meaning. I learned that is possible to create unique artwork by focusing on shapes and using them to create a new idea in my artwork.

Exercise 2 message

The focus of exercise 2 was to create a visual that connects the viewer to the artwork about connecting with nature and spending time away from the city. The message that I was trying to convey is that people need time to relax and enjoy nature and the environment. I put the city in the distance to show that the person is enjoying the outside far from the city area. People take the environment for granted and would be able to appreciate it when the environment is destroyed by either construction or businesses.

Poem/Song Text composition

The song that I choose for exercise 3 was heaven by Nas. This song is one of my favorites because of how he puts the mindset of wanting to leave earth of his wrongdoings and what the world has done to him. The shape that I picked to hold the text was the shape of the rapper. I chose this shape because I wanted it to connect with the lyrics that I used and I liked how the shape looks to the sky as if it was looking to heaven. I wanted to have the city in the background and the sky filled with stars. I wanted the negative space to complement the shape I was using.
