Assignment 6- Value

D’Alishawn Grooms

ARTC1359

What I learned

What I learned about value when completing these exercises is that it is important to understand how colors work depending on the light source. The light source needs to be acknowledged because the artwork won’t be detailed if the light source is not used properly. Another thing that I learned is how shadows cooperate with the light source. Without the shadows on the objects, the light source won’t have the same effect as it would with the shadows.

Most Interesting Exercise

The most interesting exercise was exercise two. I had the most fun with that exercise because I had to figure out how to move the light source to the position I needed it to be. Through various research, I figured out how to change the position of the light source. I was amazed by how light and shadows work together to give it that 3-D effect. This exercise gave me a better understanding of how light source works and how shadows work with light source.

Importance of value

the importance of value is to create depth and detail in an object. Value helps distinguish artwork by how the different shades of color capture the human eye. Value also has the power to control what the human eye sees in an artwork. It can create illusions or effects such as 3-D. Without value, the artwork will not be as detailed and will be harder to capture the viewer’s attention.
