Assignment 8- Communicating Design

D’Alishawn Grooms

ARTC1359.82700

Description

I took this photo of a canvas painting at an art store in cedar hill. The painting is a old country garage roughly in the 1920s. The background in gray contains part of the garage building and the ground which has more of a dirt and gravel look. The gas nozzle is in red to contrast the grey background which makes the nozzle stand out more.

Chosen Element of Design

The design element that stands out to me is the line element. You can see the actual lines on the garage building and on the gas nozzle. There is imaginary lines between the ground and stone that the gas nozzle is standing on. There is also a relationship between the vertical lines and horizontal lines making the artwork more detailed.

Focus

The focal point of the artwork is the gas nozzle. The gas nozzle is the focal point of the artwork because the color red contrast the grey background which makes the gas nozzle stand out more. The focal point captures the attention by tone and faded the background. which makes the nozzle immediately catches the eye.
