The exercises that were used for the juxtaposition is the 3 exercise from the space assignment and the 2 exercises from the line assignment. I put those two exercises together because they fit the theme that I was going for which was a graffiti theme. The color and shapes were “night and day” different and I knew that I can create a visual that looks like someone’s had graffiti over the artwork.
I wanted to show more of a rebellious emotion because I wanted to turn a clean-cut visual and add things to make it rougher. Since I was going for my theme “graffiti” I didn’t want the artwork to look clean because I wanted to add art from the other exercise to make the come together. I also wanted there to be a split visually and not have one part of the artwork shine from the other part.
I think that it was a success because I wanted the feel of the artwork to be rebellious. I wanted to viewer to see the rough strokes and understand the idea that I was trying to convey in the artwork. The artwork from the line exercise helped me create that rough feel because it wasn’t clean or straight which contributed to the visual that I was going for.
