Definition

Symmetry is the visual ability to create completeness and order in what we see or look at. Symmetry is made up of equal parts that are both proportional and balanced. Symmetry also brings harmony and balance to artwork. The three types of symmetry are reflection, and rotational. and translational. Reflection symmetry allows designers to create a balance between two parts. To create this you can divide the artwork into two equal and proportional halves. Rotational symmetry is when an object is portrayed to be in motion. Rotational symmetry can be created by creating a spiral or having an object appear like it is moving in a certain direction. Transitional symmetry is when an object has gone through a motion or movement. The object can shift in a direction without being rotated or reflected.

Purpose of Site

The purpose of the PlayStation store website is to promote video games and accessories that will either help a gamer overall play or make them want to design their equipment. The store also alerts gamers what accessories and videogames are either in store online or that will be available soon.

The screenshot that is represented is rotational symmetry. The screenshot can be found at the top of the PlayStation home page. The screenshot is effective because, in the middle, there is a motion between the vines. It also conveys an action by how part of the vines is being gathered in a circle to also portray rotational symmetry.

The screenshot is used to represent transitional symmetry. The screenshot can be found in the middle of the website right next to the controllers that they sell. The symmetry is effective because the systems shift to the right in one direction. Also, the objects have not to been rotated or reflected which gives it that transition look.

I chose this screenshot as reflection symmetry because if the image was split right through the center, each side is proportionate and does not overpower the other. The symmetry is found at the bottom of the page where other PlayStation websites are and FAQs. The symmetry is effective because each side is equal and proportionate between the objects and colors that are being used.
