Principle #1-Figure/Ground
I think that Gestalt theory is a way of how the mind works when perceiving various visual elements. It’s the idea that our mind is powerful enough to break down complex visuals and simplify them so that the visuals turn into a single simple element. Figure and ground work in principle one by how we can see the shapes that are created with the tree. The tree being the ground allows the figures to be present in the visual and can also be seen by the human eye. Creating dynamics is different from figure/ground because the whole purpose of the figure/ground is for the human eye to be able to break down complex elements and reduce them so that it is simple. Dynamics change the outlook of a visual and cause the viewer to only concentrate on the focused object and not the whole visual.

Image Description
The image I inserted is a film cover that is based on the book “Peter And The Wolf”.This image uses figure/ground because it is a complex visual the wolf being the ground allows the shapes within the visual to be seen by the human eye. Peter would be the figure because of how the shape is created from the wolf which allows peter to be more visible in the negative space. The positive space shape of the wolf creates the ground for the visual and by it being more distinctive, it allows the figure to be seen when being simplified. The figure/ground dynamics in the image is successful because it allows the viewer to see the shapes and elements within the visual.
